Support our Tiny Babies Big Appeal....

....and help support over 1000 premature and sick babies cared for in the centre each year to go home.

Tiny Babies, Big Appeal is a fundraising campaign towards the continued development and support of the new Neonatal Centre which opened in September 2010 at Birmingham Women's NHS Foundation Trust.

The brand new £7million unit was built to meet the need of the growing number of sick and premature babies born across Birmingham, the West Midlands and further afield. The number of babies received by the Neonatal Unit has dramatically increased over recent years. The increasing birth rate and other social factors will mean more newborn babies needing treatment. In addition to the babies born at Birmingham Women’s Hospital, babies are transferred from hospitals across the West Midlands for our specialist care.

Our new unit will give us the opportunity to improve our care further with state of the art equipment in an excellent environment for our babies, their parents and the staff. The new building has increased capacity for up to 50 neonatal cots (including 20 for intensive care). It will also enable us to care for preterm newborn babies from across the region who have had surgery.

We have been extremely lucky and grateful to receive so much support from the appeal since it was launched in 2009, before the new unit was built. However, with increasing numbers of babies needing vital care and treatment, we still need support.

Funds raised so far for the Tiny Babies Big Appeal has helped towards the cost of the new centre.

Continued support will go towards purchasing of much needed new equipment; providing extra comforts for our parents and babies who can often spend weeks and months in the centre. It will also help towards the development and training of our excellent team of staff who go that extra mile every day for the babies in their care.
