Members Council
The Members Council is the ‘voice’ of our members and is responsible for helping to set the direction and shapes the future of the hospital; based on members’ views.
The Members Council is a vital link for the Trust with its local community. This is a fundamental part of being a NHS Foundation Trust, helping us to be more responsive to local needs.
The core role of Members Council is helping us to find out what people think about our services and how they could be improved wherever possible; helping us to tell people about the challenges we face;and gaining their help and support in meeting them; and holding Directors to account for the services provided.
As well as this the Membership Council also has a number of key responsibilities including the appointment of the Trust’s Chairman and the Non-Executive Directors.
Members Council has approved 3 sub committees to help on its work;
- Membership Committee- is responsible for the Membership Strategy, ensuring the Trust engages with members and devising ways of communicating with members effectively
- Patient Experience- the Committee is responsible for ensuring that patients and carers have a forum to feedback there experiences, to ensure that there are process in place within the Trust for ensuring patients can give there feedback, to receive reports and suggest change.
- Nomination and Remuneration- the Committee is responsible for recommending appointments of Non Executive Directors and the Chair to Members Council, is responsible for the working with the Trust in developing job descriptions, and person specification for the Non Executive directors including the Chair, and recommending remuneration for the Non Executive Directors.
