The infection prevention and control team
We have a dedicated and proactive Infection Control Team who work closely with staff to ensure that Infection prevention and control remains a high priority across the Trust.
The Infection Prevention and Control Teams consists of Consultant Medical Microbiologists (Infection Control Doctor), Infection Control Nurses, and the Director of Infection Prevention and Control. We also have Infection Control Leads and Link practitioners in clinical areas who work with the team, to facilitate good infection control practice at ward and department level.

What do they do?
- Provide advice on all aspects of infection control to patients, visitors & staff
- Prevent and manage outbreaks of infection
- Co-ordinate and deliver programmes of education for all staff
- Conduct a programme of audit (environment and practice) and surveillance
- Formulate policies and procedures
- Interpret and implement national guidance at local level
- Provide advice and input during new builds or refurbishment projects.
- Liaise with all departments throughout the Trust to provide infection control input i.e. Facilities, Occupational Health.
