Patient and Public Involvement (PPI)
Section
11 of the Health and Social Care Act 2001 places a new duty on NHS organisations to involve and consult
patients and the public.
- The overall aim of Section 11 is to make sure
patients and the public are involved and consulted from the very beginning of any process to develop
health services or change how they operate.
- This will lead to patient-centred care
and improvements in the patients’ experience.
- ‘Involving and consulting’ means discussing
with you your ideas, our plans, your experiences, why services need to change, what you want from services
and how to make the best use of resources.
