Bladder problems are common and it is estimated over 3 million women in the UK have some degree of incontinence. We currently see around 1000 women a year.
The Urogynaecology Department offers specialist care to women of all ages in a friendly welcoming environment, providing a high standard of care to women in South Birmingham and beyond.
The staff are highly trained and the unit offers an individualised, patient focused service, from referral to discharge.
The unit has a strong ethos in managing bladder problems, conservatively, whilst also offering proven surgical options when necessary.
Since 2000, the Urogyanecology Service has been actively involved in research to further enhance the care and treatment options available to our patients, much of which is funded by money raised within the unit.
What is Urogynaecology?
Urogynaecology concerns problems of female urinary and genital tract, as they are close together, there can often be coexistent disorders.
Predominantly we deal with:
Urinary Incontinence
Recurrent Urinary infections/cystitis
Prolapse
