Patient Involvement
You are not alone….
Incontinence often leads to social isolation and depression. We actively encourage patient involvement and everyone is welcome to attend our continence patient group which meets every two months.
The Continence Support group has been very successful, with a growing number of patients attending every meeting. The benefit of the group is that it has helped people to express their feelings andf has helped improve patient’s confidence. It is a great support mechanism as the patient’s offer each other friendship, advice and most importantly a listening ear. Meeting other women with similar problems has removed the stigma incontinence can have.
The support group has provided crucial feedback which has enabled us to make improvements to the service. We have responded to patient comments in an effort to improve our environment. Examples of which are that all windows now have blinds and waiting room chairs have also been replaced. The group have also provided invaluable support in helping to develop patient information leaflets. This is an excellent example of the patient’s involvement in improving their experience.
